10 December 2009
Well goodness me it’s December already!
My email address has changed, it is now
brendonstud@hotmail.co.uk
I have opened a Brendon Stud facebook page, you can find it easily by
searching Brendon Stud on facebook, some people have already added
pictures of their foals/youngsters or horses we have sold them, please
feel free to add your own pictures or ask general questions. It is a
great, instant way of catching up, please feel free to become a fan of
the page!!
The stallions had a successful season competition wise, though we had a
delayed start when Louise fell off one of my geldings and broke her leg
on May 1st.
Unbelievable Darco [aka Fred] had numerous wins and places in 1.30m and
1.40m opens through the summer. He is now going to do a bit of dressage
through the winter!! Fred’s progeny are out getting points BD, BE and
winning at BSJA shows, his temperament is certainly passed through to
his youngstock.
Caretino Glory [Ralph] also had some good placings in the same classes
as Fred. One of his daughters had a very good win abroad in a 6 year
old Championship. I also have several offspring from him now starting
to compete.
Hamilton Tropics [Kouros] also started the season with wins and placings
in 1.30m and 1.40m, he then had most of the season off through an old
stifle injury niggling him. He also has some offspring out there now,
some competing BSJA another has also been sold to a professional
eventing home, they have high hopes for him.
Warrior [Gentleman] had a fantastic year; he won a massive Foxhunter
2nd round at Addington, qualifying for HOYS, though he just tipped the
gate off in the final at HOYS [Louise knocked the wing over in the
combination]. He was 2nd at Royal Windsor in a hotly contested B&C.
He was a winner in 6 year old class at Hickstead, he was also 2nd
in Breeders Cup at Hickstead. He finished as a winner in Lanaken
at the World Breeding Championships for young horses [crazy entry
numbers of 250ish]. His first foals were born this year, stunning!
Mostly blingy chestnuts with plenty of white; and one coloured filly.
I’m very pleased with my foals by him!
Don VHP Z [Paris] and El-Thuder [Amarillo] both had super seasons too.
They finished 1st and 2nd at Hickstead in the 5 year old Championship.
Both were stars at the British Young Horse Championships, Paris was
a bonus winner for keeping a clean score sheet through the whole
show. They have just stepped up to jumping Foxhunters. Both were
picked for the World Breeding Championships for young horses at
Lanaken [crazy entry numbers of 220ish]. Paris finishing 6th and
Amarillo rolling a pole, otherwise would have been 2nd I think.
Amarillo’s youngsters are looking to be very impressive, all bay as
far as I know, except one who is going grey [I think!] Super blood
types and well placed in futurity classes. Paris had his first season
at stud so we are eagerly awaiting next year….
Nederland Esquire [Morph] and Flamingo vh Palmenhof [Opium] both had
good seasons too. Jumping double clears in British Novice and
Discoveries, now starting to jump Newcomers. Morph won a newcomers
last week. Again both qualified for finals at Addingtons’ British
Young Horse Championships. Morph will hopefully take over from his
sire [Nederland F] who has now been sold.
There will be some new stallions for the 2010 season, we are just
starting them now, so once we know that they are suitable temperament
wise, details will follow…….
I have several horses for sale at the moment, suitable for dressage,
eventing, jumping and hunting [some have been hunting], please see
horses for sale page. Also some broodmares are for sale.
