March 2011
Hi everyone! Thought it was about time I updated the website, I know many of you follow us on facebook, where we post any news and results several times a week. Just look up Brendon Stud on Facebook.
The stallions came back into work around the middle of January [they have their winter hols so we can give the younger ones some time!] Then we trucked off to Addington for the Stallion Showcase GB. A fabulous weekend was had by all and the boys all did themselves proud, we even had Lou and Shane in dressage saddles on the Sunday!!
Unbelievable Darco, Caretino Glory and Hamilton Tropics have all enjoyed their winter breaks, they are all ticking along quietly ready for another busy summer. Tropics won a class last week and Caretino was 3rd.
Warrior has sadly been sold abroad, I say sadly as it would have been lovely for him to have been sold to the UK but it hasn't turned out that way. We are still selling semen from him, though it is obviously frozen.
Don VHP Z has been on the Atlantic tour in Portugal with Shane Breen, where he had many placings in the 7 yr old classes, and finished the tour by winning the Final!! He is really looking like he could be a star for the future.
El-Thuder has only jumped at a couple of shows since his winter holiday, he won a 1.30m at our local show and then he qualified at Patchetts for the B&C at RIHS [Hickstead]. He has jumped a couple more clears in 1.30m's.
Nederland Esquire is also back from his winter break and is jumping clears in Foxhunter; he grew this winter and I must get around to re-measuring him!
The new kid on the block is Lord Nederland, 4 years old and a bright bay, he's approx 16.1hh but growing fast! He is by Nederland F and out of Lady Hamilton, thus his full sister is Nederland Lady that is now sold and she is competing up to 1.40m.
We may have a couple of other new ones too....

10 December 2009
Well goodness me it’s December already!
My email address has changed, it is now
brendonstud@hotmail.co.uk
I have opened a Brendon Stud facebook page, you can find it easily by
searching Brendon Stud on facebook, some people have already added
pictures of their foals/youngsters or horses we have sold them, please
feel free to add your own pictures or ask general questions. It is a
great, instant way of catching up, please feel free to become a fan of
the page!!
The stallions had a successful season competition wise, though we had a
delayed start when Louise fell off one of my geldings and broke her leg
on May 1st.
Unbelievable Darco [aka Fred] had numerous wins and places in 1.30m and
1.40m opens through the summer. He is now going to do a bit of dressage
through the winter!! Fred’s progeny are out getting points BD, BE and
winning at BSJA shows, his temperament is certainly passed through to
his youngstock.
Caretino Glory [Ralph] also had some good placings in the same classes
as Fred. One of his daughters had a very good win abroad in a 6 year
old Championship. I also have several offspring from him now starting
to compete.
Hamilton Tropics [Kouros] also started the season with wins and placings
in 1.30m and 1.40m, he then had most of the season off through an old
stifle injury niggling him. He also has some offspring out there now,
some competing BSJA another has also been sold to a professional
eventing home, they have high hopes for him.
Warrior [Gentleman] had a fantastic year; he won a massive Foxhunter
2nd round at Addington, qualifying for HOYS, though he just tipped the
gate off in the final at HOYS [Louise knocked the wing over in the
combination]. He was 2nd at Royal Windsor in a hotly contested B&C.
He was a winner in 6 year old class at Hickstead, he was also 2nd
in Breeders Cup at Hickstead. He finished as a winner in Lanaken
at the World Breeding Championships for young horses [crazy entry
numbers of 250ish]. His first foals were born this year, stunning!
Mostly blingy chestnuts with plenty of white; and one coloured filly.
I’m very pleased with my foals by him!
Don VHP Z [Paris] and El-Thuder [Amarillo] both had super seasons too.
They finished 1st and 2nd at Hickstead in the 5 year old Championship.
Both were stars at the British Young Horse Championships, Paris was
a bonus winner for keeping a clean score sheet through the whole
show. They have just stepped up to jumping Foxhunters. Both were
picked for the World Breeding Championships for young horses at
Lanaken [crazy entry numbers of 220ish]. Paris finishing 6th and
Amarillo rolling a pole, otherwise would have been 2nd I think.
Amarillo’s youngsters are looking to be very impressive, all bay as
far as I know, except one who is going grey [I think!] Super blood
types and well placed in futurity classes. Paris had his first season
at stud so we are eagerly awaiting next year….
Nederland Esquire [Morph] and Flamingo vh Palmenhof [Opium] both had
good seasons too. Jumping double clears in British Novice and
Discoveries, now starting to jump Newcomers. Morph won a newcomers
last week. Again both qualified for finals at Addingtons’ British
Young Horse Championships. Morph will hopefully take over from his
sire [Nederland F] who has now been sold.
There will be some new stallions for the 2010 season, we are just
starting them now, so once we know that they are suitable temperament
wise, details will follow…….
I have several horses for sale at the moment, suitable for dressage,
eventing, jumping and hunting [some have been hunting], please see
horses for sale page. Also some broodmares are for sale.

5 February 2009
2008 was a mix of ups and downs for us. Caretino Glory and Hamilton Tropics were unfortunately out for the season with Injuries, both were nothing major, just needed time; and both are now back!
Caretino Glory’s progeny had an excellent year. Lavendelle was a winner at Addington young horse Show in the 4 yr old Final, with My Squire Caretino also taking 8th place. A Scottish foal won at the North of the Border Foal Show and Ginny Smith’s Cullinan Diamond won the Pavo Yearling Championship at Twesledown and scored highly in the BEF Futurity.
Unbelievable Darco had a good year with his best win in the Hickstead Derby Tankard, a 1.60m international class. He was also a winner at the beginning of the year at the British Open in Birmingham. His progeny included Sir Darco qualifying for the Badminton Young Dressage horse Finals, Darco Dream finishing 4th in the Final at Addington Young Horse Show and Evita was reserve Champion at the BEF Futurity Final.
Nederland F also won lots of classes, with his progeny excelling in the sport. Carla Chamberlain’s Nederland Lady qualified for Blue Chip finals and a RIHS final. Scott Brash’s Nederland Magic qualified for the Newcomers final at Hoys and he was recently 2nd in a Puissance. Annete Allen’s Ballyzach also qualified for RIHS and 2 x Blue Chip Finals.
Warrior had a fantastic year with 10 wins in young horse finals including Hickstead, Arena UK and Quainton. He represented GB at the World Breeding Championships, qualifying for the final, but he tripped in the warm up. He was a little sore so unfortunately didn’t jump the final as I think too much of him to risk him. Both Warrior and Darcobal Fravanca were selected as BEF Equine Pathway horses.
El Thuder, Don VHP Z, My Squire Caretino and Darco Dream all had a great first year competing, culminating in all qualifying for the Finals at Addington Young Horse show. El Thuder was represented at the BEF futurity by Jane Whitton and Ginny Smith’s Esquimax.
My Squire Caretino had an accident in the field in October, which resulted in a broken shoulder. This has almost certainly curtailed his competition career, but at present he is weight bearing on it and will continue his stud duties due to the fantastic foals that he produced in 2008.
New for 2009 is Nederland Esquire a skewbald by Nederland F [see his page] and some more to follow…..
I don’t advertise them until I’m sure!! We are behind in our schedule this year due to building works [lack of stables] lack of a rider and a small operation for me. Updates will be posted if I stand any more young ones.
